A Letter From Todd Sheets To All Of You

Todd's Letter To The Fans:

Dear Gorehounds....

First of all, let me start by saying that your support over the years keeps me going and makes it all worth something. I am honored to have you watch my movies. Those of you who were here years ago and watched me grow... I appreciate your patience. Some of you have expressed love for my early work, and I respect that... but as a filmmaker and artist, I hate those old mistakes! Most directors hide their learning projects; I allowed mine to be distributed all across the nation and overseas.

I got into this because I love Horror. I used to swipe my Dad's Super 8 camera and film he had saved for holidays and family gatherings!!! I used to make short movies about Frankenstein and Werewolves. I was around 9 or 10 at the time. Things kept going from there. I wanted to be a part of the magic I felt when I went to the Drive-In or indoor theater. I loved the excitement and thrill of the lights going down and the scary movie starting. It was fantastic. As we got older, we all saw Star Wars and that changed everything. Now I loved not only Monsters, but space critters, robots, spaceships, aliens and more!!!

I saw the support you were giving me and got serious about making better movies when I made Zombie Bloodbath. I consider that my first film, and the older ones all learning projects. I loved making that movie, but it was hard. It was during the great flood of 1993 and things were all underwater, even huge buildings!!! We had 700 extras and sooo much make-up. We lost locations in the flood. We lost days of shooting due to the never-ending rain. But I kept fighting to make it happen because I knew I was doing something better.

Since then, each film I make shows how much I learn. I took film workshops and classes, read every book I could find and fought harder on each movie. It shows. Each film is a big step from the last. All are plagued with problems... some of these films budgets couldn't even pay a month of your bills!!!! Some couldn't pay for a terrible used car!!! But I took what I had and made an entertaining movie out of it. I do this for many reasons, and you are one of them.

I love the process. I love sitting down alone in a room and writing a script out of my head. Then I pull together all kinds of people to make what I wrote come to life. I love most of all the finished film. To see my creation brought to life. I have always finished a movie I worked on. I do this because I never quit and for the crew and cast. They give me their time and energy and I will make sure that their hard work is shown to everyone who can see it! I make sure I do my part and get it done and distributed. People come and go, but some stay for each movie. I owe all of them much gratitude and thanks for helping make this happen. Without them, I'd be nowhere.

I do this because I love it, not to get rich. I want to bring back true, balls-to-the-wall HORROR films. Films like Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Zombie, The Gates Of Hell, Blood Feast, The Thing, Re-Animator, Demons, Bad Taste, The Toxic Avenger and all those great Horror flicks from the 80's. I was a fan first and still am... I have not become jaded as a filmmaker. I still love Horror. like I always have and I won't stop. I want you to know that I will not ever turn my back on you or the Horror genre. Not even if I am offered a million-dollar budget to do a comedy. No thanks. I'll make a Horror flick for 10,000 and be happier. Now, if I was offered a BATMAN flick... I'd do that!!! Because Batman is very dear to my heart... my all-time fave! But I'd make it dark, violent and action-packed. And he'd fight Man-Bat or Scarecrow. No Robin. No Bat-Broad. Just the Dark Knight.

Anyway, the makers of this page wanted a blessing from me, and I have given it here. They have done a great job and made me proud. I am honored and touched. this is the OFFICIAL site because I say it is! Come back often because I always give them stuff to put here.... They really love this stuff and I appreciate it.

So, here's to all of you, fellow Horror fans... Those I met at the Chiller Theater convention in New Jersey... That was a HUGE show and the thousands of you that were there proved to me how loyal you are and how much you love this stuff... you are dedicated and proud of it all! I was and still am impressed. We all got along like brothers and sisters. One big GORY family. Thanks for keeping me going and for your support.. If you wanna chat, e-mail me here.... Otherwise, let me know if there's anything I can do for you... Cheers!!! You are the GREATEST!

Sincerely,

Todd Sheets
