Nightwatch - The Radio Show For Things That Go BUMP In The Night

It was a dark and stormy night when the name and concept of this radio show was first finalized.  It was decided to bring forth a new type of radio show that really became a part of the Paranormal Community, but still had the perspective of an observer.  A show that would dig deep, yet always retain a fun atmosphere.  And  most of all, a show to give a voice to the entire Paranormal World where people could speak free and clear of ridicule and where UNITY could really begin to take shape.  At the time there was only Ghostly Talk - a fun little radio show about the Paranormal - but Nightwatch would be  a bit different... like a mix of Art Bell, Ghostly Talk, Rock Morning Shows and Ghost Hunters.  Laid back yet informative, fun yet serious.

Juke, the owner of the KCHOST radio Network had a show called KC Jukebox and the band Jedi Superstar were lucky enough to be guests on the show.  It was a raw show to be sure, but the main two people involved, Juke and Lady Juke, made an impression on Todd Sheets, vocalist/songwriter/guitarist for Jedi Superstar.  Todd really seemed to hit it off with Juke, a tall guy that really should always wear a wookie costume.  And he liked the idea behind the independent internet radio movement.  Juke it just so happened was not only doing this radio show, but was also beginning to really put effort into creating the online radio station KCHOST.  Well, Jedi Superstar went BACK on the KC Jukebox show for one more legendary show, and afterwards, Juke and Todd began to seriously talk about doing some work together.  Todd would come on as a guest host for KC Jukebox quite a few times after that and the two talked about maybe trying a new show.... something very different...

Todd Sheets was also fairly well known in underground Horror circles as a director and locally in Kansas City was a bit of a local icon of sorts as a Horror Film Director.  It was this idea that initially sparked the idea of having a show kind of like one of Todd's favorite people, Art Bell, yet add some Horror movies and stuff to it and really get MORE into the Paranormal than Coast to Coast AM had been doing.  Juke pushed a bit and after a few tries, the first show date was decided.  On October 5th, the official first Nightwatch show aired with a very scared and nervous show host doing his best to explain the ideas of the show and to entertain an audience and thus, history began.

Now, some 120 shows later, the show is available to listen to worldwide on the net via KCHOST, but is also available on various AM/FM and internet STATIONS in 14 countries, thanks to the amazing affiliates who syndicate the show all over the world and some 294 stations that have played the Nightwatch show since then!  It is an amazing ride and a shock how many great people get involved with the show.  Friendships have been formed and amazing things have happened - beyond the wildest dreams of the two guys who started it all, Todd and Juke.  And the adventure is JUST beginning.

Some of the amazing guests on Nightwatch over the years:

Some of our guests have been –Elvira – Mistress Of The Dark, The Ghost Hunters (TAPS) from the Sci-Fi Channel, Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses) Psychic Dr. Louis Turi, Pat Priest (Marilyn Munster), Chris Fleming from Dead Famous (Biography Channel),  Patrick Burns from various TV shows, John Zaffis, HG Lewis, 42nd Street Pete, Heart Of The Wolf Foundation, Sage Stallone, Fred Olen Ray, Dean Haglund from The X-Files, Reggie Bannister from Phantasm movies, SCARS Magazine, Kelli Maroney (Chopping Mall, Night of The Comet),  Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Uncle Pigors, Tony Moran from Halloween, Jim Wynorski (Horror Director Supreme),  Linda Godfrey (famous author), Wally Wingert, The PSI Network, JR Bookwalter, Sybil Danning, The Booth Brothers from Sci-Fi Channel’s SPOOKED, many Paranormal groups from around the world, Lloyd Kaufman from Troma Films and many, many more…

And things are still growing!  The Paranormal Group The Nightwatchers was formed and Todd liked the people and the idea behind the group so much that he gave them use of the Nightwatch name and logo and in just a couple of months the group had gone from just a few to over 300+ members!  People from all over the world coming together to learn and investigate the Paranormal - some even participate in special investigations at some of the most haunted places in the United States!  There are individuals and groups both involved in The Nightwatchers and it is amazing to see this unity in action!  All for the good of the Paranormal community!  Just another amazing step being taken due to the power of this little radio show.... a show that Todd was afraid would not even last a month.

There is talk of new ideas for the show as well, some Satellite Radio have been in contact with Nightwatch about branching out, various agents and TV producers are in talks with Todd now to move forward on some new ideas and there are even going to be personal appearances at various Conventions in the US this year for Nightwatch.  The Nightwatch universe is growing, expanding and always evolving and it is all due to the amazing loyalty of the listeners and the great stations that syndicate the show each week.  And there are even some fun merchandise ideas coming as well!  Juke has grown as a Producer, learning more and more about the radio biz as he goes.  Growing as a host and tech guru and basically, taking great steps to insure the future of the KCHOST Network.  Juke and Lady Juke have turned KCHOST into quite the underground empire, bringing live entertainment to the world 5 days a week, and rebroadcast the two flagship shows, Nightwatch and Wild Wild Weestmar Show, every night.  Things have sure changed around the old studio....

And all along, Todd Sheets and The Juke have maintained their integrity, their honesty and their honor.  Never selling out, never giving in.  Always outspoken, Todd never fears who he may upset in his search to bring you the best possible show he can each week.  The guy simply says it like it is and has never been afraid to name names and confront an issue live on the air.  This is one host that can guarantee you that he will not be bought - ever.  These guys are not in it for the money.  They don't want fame and fortune.  They are here because they love it.  As Todd says to people listening every week, "Without you, this show would not be here."  And he means it.  His loyalty to the listeners, to KCHOST and to the stations playing the show may have cost him some friends from time to time, but his heart is in the right place.  It's all for the love of the show and the idea of bringing unity to the world of the Paranormal.

And to this day, Todd still gets nervous and just a bit afraid before every broadcast.....
